A wife had grown increasingly frustrated with her husband’s weekly outings to the local pub. While he enjoyed nights out with friends, she felt neglected and left behind at home. The constant question lingered in her mind: Why would he choose time with his friends over me?
Finally, she decided to confront him.
“Why do you spend so much time at that pub? What’s so great about it that you can’t stay home with me?” she demanded.
The husband saw an opportunity. Smiling, he extended an invitation: “Come with me one evening. See for yourself what it’s like.”
Eager to understand, the wife agreed. She imagined a lively but glamorous setting where her husband indulged in good company and laughter.
But when they arrived, reality struck. The pub was far from what she’d envisioned. It was noisy, smoky, and filled with bursts of boisterous laughter that made her head spin. Determined to stick it out, she followed her husband to the bar.
“What would you like to drink, dear?” he asked warmly.
“Oh, I’ll just have whatever you’re having,” she replied, eager to experience his world.
The husband nodded and ordered two shots of a strong, bitter liquor. He downed his glass in one swift motion, barely flinching.
Curious and competitive, the wife took her glass, lifted it to her lips, and took a small sip. Instantly, her face twisted in disgust, and she spat the liquid out.
“Yuck! That’s awful! How can you drink this stuff?” she exclaimed, coughing and wiping her mouth.
Her husband chuckled and replied, “Well, now you see—and you think I’m out here having a great time every night!”
